“I welcome you to join me for a week of recreation through yoga, meditation, philosophy, restoration and relaxation at the wonderful Centro Santillán in Andalusia, Spain.
The centre is amazingly beautiful and has a large yoga room fully equipped with props and a large yoga wall. It is light and has a spectacular view over the hills toward the Mediterranean.
The guest rooms are large and beautiful. Each one with either a balcony or a terrace with beautiful views. All the rooms have en suite bathrooms. There are numerous common spaces both indoors and outdoors where you can read, contemplate or socialize. The premises and surroundings are absolutely gorgeous and the view over the Mediterranean breathtaking”.
The excellent food is lovingly prepared from local produce, most of it grown organically on the premises and varying according to season. The menu is mainly vegetarian, with the addition of fish, if wanted. Allergies and food sensitivities are catered for.
We will have daily asana classes, meditation sessions and lectures/discussions. There will also be time to hike, read or really take it easy, to rest and allow the yoga to take effect.
Massages and excursions are available for an extra charge.
Numerous airlines fly to Málaga, making it easily accessible. The centre is located about 35 km east of Málaga airport. Pick-up can be arranged by the center for an extra charge.
My journey into yoga began on the island of Skyros, Greece in 1988.
At the time I was experiencing prolonged symptoms of very severe eczema, which started disappearing during the 14 day long retreat.
It transformed because it got my digestion going, it really made my skin start healing. It was such a profound physical change, that there was no return.
Through the years of my own healing journey, I have experienced the transformative power of the body, proper nutrition, and nature. It is important to have a diet that supports our personal bodies so that the body can function in the best way possible and heal whatever is not in balance. Nature has a wonderful power to support balance and often we can find balance through the healing power of plants. Just walking in the forest and breathing in the air, in some sense has the same calming effect as essential oils. It goes into your brain, effects the nervous system and sends the impulses out.
In 1988, I was the first person to begin practicing and teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in Finland. Over the years, my methods of practicing and teaching have changed through both intense study and the work I have done with different teachers along the way.
It was in 2008 that I was first introduced to Purna Yoga. Encompassing not only the physical component of yoga, asana and prakashayama, Purna Yoga includes Heartfull™ Meditation, applied philosophy and nutrition and lifestyle, because yoga is not a physical exercise, it is a way of life.
After years of living with chronic asthma, that included taking daily cortisone, through Purna Yoga and the impact of lifestyle choices and meditation, the asthma has completely disappeared.
In 2010 I completed the 500-Hour and in 2012 the 2,000-Hour Teacher Training program at the Purna Yoga College in Bellevue, Washington, USA under Aadil Palkhivala and Savitri. Today I am one of about 50 teachers in the world holding the 2.000 hour certificate.
Purna has been completely life transforming… only now do I really feel like I’m teaching yoga.
Since the summer of 2010 I have also completed several therapeutic teacher trainings with Aadil both as a participant and as his assistant. In addition, I completed a training in how to teach teachers in October 2012″

The arrival day we have a small get together and introduction in the evening. If most of you arrive early enough, we will also have a ”getting the flight out of the body” class.
The typical daily program will include a longer active yoga (asana) session in the morning, and then a 90 minute slow and restful class, including meditation in the later afternoon, before dinner.
We will also have a Q&A, on at least a couple of the evenings. More if you have many questions.
On Wednesday, there will only be a morning session, to make it possible to make a longer day trip to Málaga, Granada or somewhere else, to go for a longer hike, go to the beach or just stay at Santillán to read and rest.
On the day of departure (the 29th), there will be a morning class for those whose flights aren’t early in the morning. A ”feel good on the plane” type of practice.

Prices include: Use of all facilities, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, unlimited coffee, tea and water . Tea and fruits are available before breakfast.
