The TeacherCatherine Annis is well known for her imaginative and practical approach to yoga.  Originally a professional dancer, she discovered yoga as a teenager, and has been practicing for more than 35 years.

Based in London, she teaches with care, humour and compassion, encouraging each attendee to trust and learn from their own personal explorations.

What can I expect from this retreat?


Retreats are a beautiful gift you can give yourself.  They are designed to help you slow down, unwind and reset your energy levels, so you can return home feeling refreshed and inspired.

There are two generous yoga classes each day (except for the day off) which focus on anatomically intelligent practice, and include breath work, meditation, somatic movement inquiry and asana practice, with an occasional yoga nidra session.   Enjoy three colourful vegetable-rich pescatarian Spanish meals a day, plus lots of Spanish treats and dessert! There is plenty of free time each day so you can take advantage of the in-house therapy team, who offer a range of massage treatments. Lie by the salt-water pool and catch up on your reading, swim, take a nap, or walk into the hills – whatever feeds your spirit. There is one day off (usually Thursday) with an option to explore Malaga or go on an excursion to one of the local villages or beaches, or stay at the retreat centre to enjoy some extra rest.

Catherine Annis

Catherine explored Sivananda, Iyengar, Ashtanga and various forms of Hatha yoga, before eventually gravitating to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli. Her practice and teaching focuses on deepening physical awareness and alignment to reveal the natural freedom of the body, particularly the spine.  She is an attentive and thoughtful teacher, and highly skilled at adapting poses to accommodate all levels and types of students, so that everyone leaves class feeling that they have made a fresh discovery about their yoga practice.


She developed Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training, an 18 month diploma, delivering practical, anatomy focused yoga, with guest teachers Gary Carter and Peter Blackaby.  She is also a member of the Triyoga advisory committee, helping to shape yoga teaching in one of Europe’s leading studios.
