The Teachers
Cathy Yonaitis has been teaching people how to move since 1996. It all started after she graduated with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She spent 12 years working in an inpatient hospital specializing in neurological rehabilitation, orthopedics, and acute care. She was mentored by some brilliant OT’s, and PT’s, her very first teachers. It was here that her love for people and her intuitive hands on approach began to flourish.

She discovered Yoga in 2002, after her second son was born. She learned to integrate the techniques of yoga with her Occupational therapy approach, and people LOVED it. She has taken multiple teacher trainings (over 3000 hours of training) and continues to explore and study current movement science as it relates to human health. She recently took two online trainings from Mindful Strength and The Yoga Detour, that pull from the worlds of weightlifting, somatics, FRC, and many other movement disciplines.

Cathy’s passion for yoga, strength, accessibility, and creating freedom in the body have fused together. Her students leave class feeling stronger, resilient, and inspired.

Mona Flynn is the owner of LifeFit Inc., a yoga and Pilates business dedicated to using wellness principles for improved lifelong fitness and well-being, while building community. Mona has a Master’s degree in exercise physiology and over thirty years of teaching experience, specializing in the blending of preventive and rehabilitative therapies. Mona is a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and registered with Yoga Alliance as a continuing education provider and as an Iyengar-influenced Hatha teacher. In addition, Mona holds various Balanced Body Pilates certifications, and a TRE (Trauma and Tension Releasing Exercise) Advanced Provider.

The Retreat
Daily yoga classes will be offered in a state-of-the-art studio equipped with 24 rope wall stations. The morning session will be active asana practice and the evening session will include restorative asana and pranayama practice. Both are suitable for all levels. Modifications and options can be provided to accommodate physical issues or injuries. All practices are optional, as the surrounding areas both on and off the retreat center are filled with memorable ways to spend your time.

We will practice asana with the help of the yoga wall, which provides an opportunity for traction and a different relationship to gravity. Traction of the spine creates space which according to yoga philosophy, provides healing, both physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Through our week together, we will learn the physical and psychological origins of back pain, practice sequences for specific areas of back release and strengthening, learn asana modifications and pranayama to deepen your yoga practice resilience, and lifestyle support.

There is no prerequisite for this retreat yet any experience with yoga is a plus. Both Mona Flynn and Cathy Yonaitis are capable of accommodating many levels of ability and special needs/requests. We will practice asana, meditation, pranayama and more, enjoying movement and the group retreat experience. A refined and more detailed agenda will be sent out and adjusted here, once registration is full, and will reflect the general interests of those who have registered.
